Seth Baylus Registers First State's First Sub-10.8 Clocking In 100 By Mary Albl of DyeStat After a year away due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the New Hampshire Meet of Champions returned on Saturday at Sanborn Regional High in Kingston. In boys action, Merrimack valley junior Seth Baylus broke the all-time state record in the 100 meters with 10.77 (+2.0w), eclipsing the 2004 time of 10.80 by Dominique Worsely of Central. Baylus also finished runner-up in the 200 (22.11). Another all-time state best came in the boys triple jump, where Shane Wang from Concord Christian got a big fifth-round mark of 48-2.50. It was a battle for first in the 1,600 as Windham senior Rohan Rai edged out Coe-Brown senior Luke Tkaczyk, 4:17:05 to 4:17.12 for the title. Coe-Brown sophomore Aidan Cox claimed the 3,200 title in 9:13.45. In girls action, Nashua South freshman Soraya Ross shined on the track, winning the 200 (25.36), taking second in the 100 (12.54), anchoring the winning 4x100 (49.55) and contributing to a runner-up finish in the 4x400 (4:11.59). In the distance events, Coe-Brown senior Addison Cox was the only runner to dip under 11 minutes in the 3,200, winning in 10:57.53. Leslie MacGrath of Milford jumped 5-8 to win the high jump and took three attempts at a state record height of 5-10.50.
